Under Presidential Decree No. UP–183 of 13 October 2025, the Center for Sustainable Development in the Water Sector is responsible for analysing sectoral reforms and target indicators, developing strategic solutions to systemic challenges, promoting innovative technologies, and preparing proposals on transboundary, international and domestic water issues.

The Water Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, adopted on 30 July 2025, regulates water resources management, their rational use and protection, the operation of water management facilities, transboundary water cooperation, and the rights and obligations of parties involved in water-related relations.

The Gender Concept for the Water Sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2025–2030 aims to mainstream gender equality principles throughout the water management system, increase women’s participation and engagement, and create equal professional opportunities for women.

The Programme, approved by Presidential Resolution No. PP–250 of 15 August 2025, aims to promote the rational management of water resources, modernize irrigation and land reclamation infrastructure, digitalize water accounting, expand the use of water-saving technologies, and improve the energy efficiency of pumping stations.
