The main objective of the project is to improve water resources management across 100,000 hectares of irrigated land in Ellikqala (33,200 ha), Beruniy (34,000 ha), and Turtkul (32,800 ha) districts.

Project area: Ellikqala, Beruniy, and Turtkul districts.
Total project cost: USD 376.72 million.
Of which:
World Bank loan — USD 214.9 million;
contribution of the Republic of Uzbekistan — USD 161.8 million.
Implementation period: 2015–2021.

Project outcomes:
- the efficiency of the canals will increase from 49% to 60%, resulting in annual water savings of 269 million m³;
- three major pumping stations under the management of the Beruniy Pumping Station — Dostlik (16.2 m³/s), Qilchinoq (26.4 m³/s), and Nayman-Beshtom (22 m³/s) — as well as 20 medium and small pumping stations abstracting water from the Amu Darya, will be taken out of operation;
- in addition, more than 400 pumping stations under the balance of Water Users' Associations and farms will be closed. This will result in annual savings of USD 6.9 million in electricity and operating costs.

In 2018, USD 1.384 million in loan funds was allocated, and 800,000 m³ of sediment was removed from a 10-km section of the Pravoberezhny Canal.

In 2019, USD 20.16 million in loan funds was disbursed, and construction and installation works under three contracts were completed, including:

Under contract SKWRMIP/ICB/1-1/Lot-1 — “Rehabilitation of the Right-Bank Main Canal”, 2,699 m³ of concrete works and 132,503 m³ of earthworks were completed during the year, and 7 hydraulic structures were constructed.
Under contract SKWRMIP/ICB/1-2/Lot-1 — “Rehabilitation of the Buston Canal (Eastern Section)”, 21,272 m³ of concrete works and 2,544,320 m³ of earthworks were completed.
Under contract SKWRMIP/ICB/1-2/Lot-2 — “Rehabilitation of the Buston Canal (Western Section)”, 13,675 m³ of concrete works and 632,099 m³ of earthworks were completed.
