FINLAND’S EXPERIENCE IN WATER GOVERNANCE AND DIPLOMACY EXPLORED
The discussions included an exchange of views on public policy for water resources management, inter-agency coordination, international water strategy, water diplomacy and transboundary cooperation.
The Uzbekistan delegation held meetings with Pekka Pesonen, Permanent Secretary of Finland’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; Antti Rautavaara, Finland’s Special Envoy for Water; and Turo Herppe, Senior Specialist at Finland’s Ministry of the Environment.
The discussions included an exchange of views on public policy for water resources management, inter-agency coordination, international water strategy, water diplomacy and transboundary cooperation.
The parties also discussed prospects for strengthening water security, adapting to climate change, advancing environmental monitoring and applying Finland’s advanced governance practices in Uzbekistan.
Both sides expressed interest in developing expert exchanges and expanding practical cooperation in the water and environmental sectors.
